Retirement Reinvented — Season 2 · Episode 1 | Thrivve
Retirement: The New Chapter
When you are retired and you are feeling a bit adrift, you’re not alone. Most of us crave a little structure again — a rhythm that gives our days meaning. Here’s what’s been working for me (and a few fellow Thrivvers): three small routines that help you feel better, live a little richer, and grow a little stronger..
1. The 30-Minute Wellness Loop
Take an hour-long walk each day, and do squats, push-ups, and wall sits. By midweek, focus on balance, or walk heel-to-toe along your counter.
2. The C.A.L.M. Mini-Plan
Money stress can cause sleepless nights, so think C.A.L.M.
C — Choose one plan that makes sense. Maybe 50/30/20 for needs, wants, and savings.
A — Automate something tiny — even R100 into a Joy Fund.
L — List the things that bite once a year: car licence, gifts, renewals. Add a few rand to each monthly budget to soften the blow.
M — Make one micro-income test. Try selling something you’ve made, or offer a little paid help to a neighbour.
Tina did that — she saved a bit, joined an art class, and sold her first hand-painted scarf to a friend. The money was nice, but the joy was better.
3. Grow Stronger: The Weekly Growth Sprint
Set aside three hours a week — in pieces if needed.
Spend one learning something new (even if it’s just asking your grandchild to show you how to use a new app).
Spend one hour making — baking, planting, writing, mending.
And the last? Belonging. Invite someone for tea or start a small Thrivve Circle — just two people walking or sharing stories.
It’s not about grand plans. It’s about small, steady things that bring life back into focus.
You don’t need to “get busy” again — you just need rhythm, curiosity, and a few good people beside you.
TEpisodes You May Also Enjoyhis is not the end; it is a new adventure.
